Embedded DL for ecology and conservation research

Hi All,
I'm interested in using DL to detect animals and recognise species and individuals (using visual tags or natural variation in ornaments) from videos taken in the wild.
Ideally, we would use energy-efficient neural networks that could perform "immediate" recognition  used in other applications (behavioural or cognitive task etc ..) directly in the wild (powered on battery and/or solar energy).
We could provide large number of annotated videos for bird detection (and recognition at the individual level).
We are at the step of building the training database for bird and pollinator insect species recognition.
There are tons of applications for ecology and conservation research. I'm looking for academic/private collaborator motivated by the topic. Thomas Serre is already partially involved in the project.
Cheers,
Maxime
